Brand
Automotive news publisher—from a slow blog-style WordPress site to a curated editorial platform, custom theme, dedicated infrastructure, and full ongoing operations.
Tiempo Motor is Argentina’s leading automotive news brand—daily coverage of launches, industry, business, and test drives. This case follows the engagement from legacy WordPress constraints through a custom rebuild, platform migration, and measurable gains in speed, reach, and discoverability.
The client came to us with a WordPress site that performed poorly, offered a limited design, and could not support the editorial and commercial model they needed for the national automotive market.
Publishing was essentially chronological blog flow: the homepage could not be curated, internal pages offered little structure for featured coverage, and the stack was not built for the traffic or monetization goals ahead.
In production, the homepage took about 25 seconds to load—unusable for a daily news brand. Lighthouse-style performance on desktop sat around 50; lab timings on the legacy stack showed DOMContentLoaded near 11 seconds and full page load above 11.5 seconds.
We proposed a full rebuild—not a skin on the old theme: a custom WordPress theme from scratch with a new visual system, editorial fields for featured placement, and ad zones wired into the layout from day one.
Content would be organized by category and by automotive brand, not only by publish date. The plan included a curated homepage, category hubs, a multimedia gallery for OEM campaigns, and automated social distribution to grow engagement without manual reposting.
On the platform side: archive migration into the new model, a dedicated server, domains, email, and ongoing hosting and maintenance under WALOO.
Six phases—from infrastructure and custom theme through migration, social distribution, and ongoing performance.
Dedicated server, DNS, domains, and email accounts—platform layer under WALOO before theme work began.
Bespoke theme from scratch—templates for homepage, category hubs, articles, and ad-ready zones; no page-builder stack.
Automotive brand taxonomy and logo bar, multimedia gallery for OEM campaigns, and editorial fields for curated placement.
Relevamiento of the existing archive and migration into the new content model—categories, brands, and featured slots.
Automated publishing of new articles to social channels—engagement and repeat traffic without manual reposting.
Front-end tuning, caching discipline, and ongoing hosting and releases—sustaining speed gains after relaunch.
Rubik for headings, Open Sans for body copy, and Tiempo Motor red for editorial hierarchy.

After relaunch, desktop Lighthouse moved from roughly 50 to 95. The homepage went from ~25 seconds in the field to a 3.2s full load in lab tests—DOMContentLoaded from 10.89s to 4.42s, full page load from 11.50s to 3.2s.
Alexa positioning improved as traffic grew: global rank climbed by +250,587 to ~1.26M worldwide; in Argentina the site reached #807.
Combined with structured publishing, editorial SEO, and social auto-distribution, Tiempo Motor began appearing on the first page of Google for searches tied to the national automotive news market. Editors gained a homepage they could curate without developers; the commercial team had ad-ready zones and multimedia inventory for OEM campaigns.
Desktop score after relaunch; from ~50 on the legacy stack.
Lab full load; homepage was ~25s in the field.
Stronger positioning as traffic and discoverability grew.
Lighthouse lab score — 95 on desktop after launch (from ~50 on the previous stack).
Custom WordPress theme, CPT-driven brand filtering, PHP/MySQL backend, and front-end markup tuned for speed—not a page-builder stack.
Custom build, infrastructure, and go-to-market support for a high-traffic news brand.
Bespoke theme from zero, custom post types for filtering by automotive brand, and templates for homepage, hubs, and long-form articles.
